Was never much of a fan of Koby, especially not kid Koby of all people lmao, but this episode, and I remember chapter really did make him grow on me, because it really did show that he ain't that same pussy ass kid from so long ago in the beginning of the show, he's grown some steel balls enough to go up against the island and hit that boy with that FUCKING HONESTY IMPACTOOOOOO HOLY FUCKKKKKKKK. Think I can wholeheartedly say now that THAT IS MY GOAT KOBY.
My fuck man, One Piece is so goated. Easily one of the best episodes in the ENTIRE series. Garp MY FUCKING GOAT THANK YOU.
P.S. A new Fan Letter PV dropped and it looks absolutely gorgeous as well, airs next week instead of a normal ep btw.

Koby's CoO failed him last episode, but his CoA display here was amazing. Looks like Oda is handing out free Advanced Haki power ups post Wano now that Luffy unlocked it, lol. My boy Katakuri better returns to the story with some ACoA as well. Nonetheless an impressive feat, especially since Koby worked so hard for it. My only gripe is that it would've been more impactful if we had seen more of Koby in action between the arcs.
One Piece episode 914 & 915 & 1027 were a mistake and 957 brought the salvation - FMmatron

holy shit koby locked tf innnn. they went way too hard with honesty impact, his VA cooked there as well. was nice seeing flashbacks of small koby in garp's class, he's come a long way. not just that, we even got galaxy divide. garp was STILL going crazy. the 3 young marines ran their fade though, the future of the marines is safe for sure. one piece stays being on top.

Another fantastic episode, it was emotional cutting those early Koby and Helmeppo days and seeing their growth, as well of course as Garp entrusting things to the younger generation
The way Kuzan froze his face before he could shed a tear T.T

The lead up to Garp's Galaxy Divide was insane, especially when he zigzagged and left all that destruction behind him. And then Koby having his goat moment, all that training and bloody knuckles led to his big attack, Honesty Impact. Absolute hype. I do not care how exaggerated the effects are, I'm loving how the animators deliver on the hype moments. Despite all the excitement, the episode ended on a bittersweet note now that Garp has fallen.
Your taste in anime isn't a personality trait.

Garp is 100% right and Kuzan was hurting really bad. While I would do/answer the same thing as Koby instinctively, Garp is correct.
So seems like Koby can do a burst equal to a Garp burst HOWEVER it's only a singular burst and messed up his hand(/arm(?)). We saw Garp can move like Gear 4 Luffy on Steroids, and Koby (and gang) were fairly quick too so he'll definitely be a force to be reckoned with. I vote for Shanks vs Koby (Haki Beasts), Luffy vs Blackbeard (opposites), Buggy (future pirate king) vs Imu (???).
Edit: So I looked into what the hell the ending was. So instead of getting the the Egghead craziness we will get:
Anime's 25th anniversary commemorative work "ONE PIECE FAN LETTER"
It's based on "ONE PIECE novel Mugiwara Stories" by Tomohito Osaki
Momoka Toyoda will be writing the screen play among multiple other personnel to include animation director for 1015th episode which was 1000th episode of original manga. Staff that made opening theme for egghead will be there too.
Masahiro Tokuda will have produced a new play/song for this.

Decent episode. They really dragged out Koby's training and for the record this does not redeem his retarded action from last episode. He's still the reason for Garp's "death" or whatever they end up doing to him. Can't wait for "Kindness Kick" next time we see him 🤣 3/5

Back to the present, Pizarro is about to crush the ship. Koby is reflecting on his weakness and contemplates what he should do. Then, Garp speaks out and lays out his plan. Garp will create an opening, Koby will destroy Pizarro’s hand, and Grus will take care of the debris, and Helmeppo will protect the two of them. Koby doubts himself, but Garp informs him that decisions must be made in an instant.
The plan is a go. Aokiji tries to stop Garp, but that doesn’t work. Garp flies at Pizarro and hits Galaxy Divide. Pizarro’s arm recoils and we go into Koby’s past. We learn that Koby not only went through Garp’s intense training, but continually injured himself by using the Battleship Bags so he can catch up with everyone else. Koby is using Moon Walk to go at Pizarro’s giant hand so he can save everyone on the ship. He arrives and starts free falling. He thinks back to his training awakens.
He hits Pizarro with his newly acquired move, Honesty Impact. He obliterates Pizarro’s hand. Grus catches the debris and Helmeppo is able to reconvene with Koby. Now that Koby has been rescued, all that’s left is to get Garp. This is when that lesson comes into play… Garp tells everyone to leave the island and leave him behind.
Everyone contests, but eventually they oblige. Going back to the lesson, Garp mentions how the Navy protects the future of the people, hence why he told them to leave the geezer behind. As Garp is laying on Beehive, we see Aokiji has put an icicle in his wound and he’s just laughing, knowing they can’t do anything to the grandfather of the Fifth Emperor. Aokiji was with the Navy woman who scolded Garp for telling his students to leave the old man behind. Garp is still laughing as he’s been frozen. Garp’s disappearance along with Koby’s rescue were reported along with what’s going on with Luffy and the Straw Hats on Egghead.
I’m excited to see more!

Honesty Impact looks marvelous, wow! I think they did a good job setting up Koby's past training in this episode for his character growth as Koby unleashes Honesty Impact, and it did deliver.
I really teared up from seeing Garp sacrificing himself by having the Marine ship escape while he gets left behind in Pirate Island while being cornered by the Blackbeard Pirates. One of the living legends has fallen. 😭 I think Kuzan teared up here but he had to hide his tears by freezing his face. Still, that moment with Garp left behind... It's so hard to watch. It's heartbreaking...
So that's the special episode that they were talking about which was said to be directed by Megumi Ishitani? And it's the same special that will air next week? I'm hyped for it! Looks like we'll have to wait for 2 weeks from now for episode 1123...
EDIT: DAMN! It's not 2 weeks from now. It's 6 MONTHS FROM NOW FOR THE CONTINUATION! 😅 I'm just going to enjoy watching the Fishman Island arc remastered version while waiting for the return to Egghead.

The peak episode! It's been a long time since One Piece caused me such emotions as this one! I shed tears after Koby's Honesty Impact! 😢 He trained tirelessly on the bag ships, washing his hands in blood to become stronger, and Helmeppo and Grus helped him to deliver such a powerful blow! Koby is really a hero. Garp is such a wonderful grandfather and teacher who sacrifices himself for the sake of a younger generation, reminded me of Whitebeard! 😭 It's not entirely clear yet, but perhaps Koby has Conqueror's Haki, he's grown so much since the first episode, and will continue to do so! This episode is one of my favorites, probably in the top 10-20 and one of my favorites in Egghead.

god damn they went off this episode. best episode in a while imo. chills all throughout. hell of a way to go into the long hiatus until april. i honestly don't mind the hiatus. it'll give them time to do an even better job and also put some distance between it and the manga so they can put more into each episode. i'll miss it but it'll be back better than ever and we still have the manga so all's good

As cool as Honesty Impact was, Garp still the MVP!

Man..as much as I was hoping the anime would go on a break, I'm gonna miss it so bad.
Watching One Piece at the end of the weekend is something I looked forward for years. At least we got a bunch other stuff in between I guess.
