Alda's contribution gave the Elizabeth Cady Stanton Foundation the $43,000 it needed to purchase the home, the park service said Monday. The foundation is acquiring property in the Seneca Falls. N.Y. area for a Women's Rights National Historical Park, which was authorized by Congress last December.

Ward, who served as an adviser to the late Presidents John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson, died Sunday at her home after a lengthy illness, her personal secretary announced.
The secretary did not disclose the nature of the illness. Ward was made a life peer in 1976 with the title Lady Barbara Jackson of Lodsworth. the Northwest into the northern Rockies. This is a very frustrating case." The judge has asked for an investigation into the public defender's role in arranging the marriage. Vickie Norris, Snohomish County deputy prosecutor, said Monday that the wedding of John Ray Johnson, 30, of Everett and Linda Orton of Kirkland Johnson's roommate when his grandmother was killed probably would force the prosecution to drop the case.
"Without the testimony of Ms. Orton, there's insufficient evidence," she said. Orton and Johnson were living together when Johnson's grandmother was found slain. Dr. Arthur Hull Hays FDA commissioner, said Monday the FDA will delay the Aug. 19 effective date of a proposed rule requiring label warnings that bubble baths can cause irritation to the skin and urinary tract.
"It is clear that people, especially parents, need to know that remaining in bubble baths for prolonged periods of time, or using bubble baths excessively, can cause health problems," he said. "But we need to examine carefully whether a caution statement on the label is the most effective and appropriate way to bring this problem to parents' attention," Hayes said.
